Nanoknife FAQ

Is it a painful procedure?

The procedure is done under general anesthesia, so it is painless. In the days after the procedure, you may experience some perfectly tolerable discomfort, just using a mild pain reliever (eg Paracetamol / Ibuprofen).

I have Prostate Cancer, am I a candidate for this treatment?

Multiple factors can influence the choice of therapeutic modality. Each case has its particularities, so you should contact us for a better explanation.

Is it a safe procedure?

Because it is performed in an operating room environment and with general anesthesia, all vital parameters are continuously monitored. After the intervention, patients are admitted to the post-anesthetic care unit, where they continue to be monitored, until they are discharged by the anesthetist, and can return to their room.

When can I get back to work?

With this type of treatment, you should recover quickly and be able to return to your usual work activity in 48 to 72 hours.

If IRE / Nanoknife is not possible, what can I do?

If it is not possible to perform an IRE, you can choose another form of focal treatment (cryotherapy) or radical treatment (brachytherapy, radical prostatectomy, Laparoscopy, external radiotherapy). We will study the one that best suits your specific case.

I have a pace maker / ICD, can I do the treatment?

The pace maker in prostate treatments is not a contraindication. The CDI, as in most procedures, has to be turned off in advance.

How long it takes?

The duration of the procedure itself varies from 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on the area to be treated. It usually requires a 24-hour hospital stay for surveillance.
